Hongfei Yu (于洪飞)
I am an undergraduate student in Astronomy at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC, Class of 2023), and a member of the Wang Shouguan Talent Program in Astronomy.
My interests are in Large-Scale Structure (LSS), Dark Energy, and Dark Matter, with a current focus on Effective Field Theory (EFT) of LSS theory and its application in cosmology. I am building my profile as an great PhD candidate through coursework, coding, and hands-on research projects.
Current Research Focus
- Cosmology & LSS: statistical and physical modeling of structure formation and galaxy-halo relations.
- Cosmological Parameter Constraint: using Metro-Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) to constrain cosmology (parameters and models) with observation.
- AI for Cosmology: combining Machine Learning (ML) with theoretical and computational methods to probe fundamental physics with cosmological data.
Highlights
- Research experience: project in modern cosmology with NAOC (2024–2025), undergraduate research program with USTC (2025-2026).
- Teaching assistantship: Theoretical Mechanics (2025 Fall), Electrodynamics (2026 Spring).
- Academic training: strong coursework in GR & Cosmology, LSS, and Physical Cosmology, plus a full physics/math foundation.
- Honors: Excellent Freshman Scholarship (Gold), Excellent Student Scholarship (Bronze, 2024 & 2025).
